Will Our Back Cushion Suit Your Crochet Chair?

A favourite crochet chair has to make room for you, the yarn and the project. Before adding a back cushion, check how much useful sitting space is left once padding moves you away from the original backrest.

Measure usable space

Our cushion is approximately 50 × 47 × 9 cm. Compare its width and height with the chair back, paying attention to arms and side wings. A broad chair can still have a narrow space between its arms.

On a deep armchair, padding may bring back contact closer. On a shallower chair, the same addition may crowd the seat. Soft upholstery also affects how the cushion sits, so the measurements are a screening step rather than a comfort guarantee.

Keep room for crochet

Consider your usual project, not just an empty lap. Can a blanket rest without forcing your hands forward? Are the armrests still at a comfortable height? Is the yarn within reach? A cushion that fits the chair but restricts the activity may be the wrong option.

Our centre pad is separate and held by an adjustment strap. You can vary its position for gentle contact. It does not support your forearms or carry the project’s weight, so decide whether those need attention first.

Check attachment

The cushion should sit securely on a compatible backrest. Check the route around the back and follow the furniture maker’s restrictions. If an upholstered shape offers no suitable attachment route, do not rely on squeezing the cushion between the chair arms.

• Prefer a sound chair with enough usable backrest space.
• Leave room to set the project aside and stand up.
• Avoid stacking several bulky supports into a crowded seat.
• Choose another option if the shape cannot hold the cushion securely.
